Very good Burgers, Pizza, Lively Crowd and Great Service. This is the type of bar that other vacation lakes wish they had, as it's very well run, has live entertainment, a beautiful view and location. Plus they make strong drinks at reasonable prices which is the case for every restaurant and bar in Fox Lake ( with exception of Hayes House , which pours very weak drinks, which might explain what bars draw the crowds these days ). I highly recommend the Boat House for dinner, drinks and hanging out.

I cannot emphasize enough how bad the service is and the food was cold and tasteless. Management was rude and it took forever to get our order which was screwed up.

Had the burger with fries. Pretty basic I thought, how can you mess up something that simple. Well, the burger might as well be called a slider. The fries were tiny, a small portion, and under cooked with no seasoning. The onion on my burger was one whole slice off an onion. It was seriously thicker than my burger patty. For $4, I would have been more satisfied at McDonalds sadly. The only nice thing was the view of the lake...

How do you write a review of the place that you've been going to nearly every summer weekend since you were a kid, even through its previous owners and names? It's been cool to see its transformation into the place it is today. The Boathouse is the best bar/restaurant/place to be in this little town on the lake. Good drinks, cool crowd of locals & summer birds, and great fried & greasy foods at reasonable prices. I've even been here three times a day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The best thing about this place is the pizza. It's not amazing, but it's the kind of pizza that you crave on a Saturday night with some beers after fishing all day on the lake. The drinks are also well priced -- they can whip up anything. Some nights, the bar has local bands performing and karaoke. In addition to the outdoor patio and boat dock (yes, you can get here by boat), the house next door can be rented for summer trips with friends and family; call way ahead, they book up fast! I'll be seeing you here next summer, right?

We never miss a chance to visit the Boat House when in Fox Lake. They serve great bar food - pizza, burgers, tons of sandwiches and wraps, soups and appetizers. They also feature daily specials. Perfect "up-north", fishing, hunting, Wisconsin decor complete with a larger-than-life wooden pirate! (I wonder how many people have had their picture taken with the pirate!) The staff is great and Vicky treats her staff right as can be noted by the longevity of much of the staff. Great view of the lake with plenty of outdoor seating. It's "the place" to go on Fox Lake.

I've been here 5-6 times over the past few years; my cousin lives very nearby, so we swing in when I'm visiting her and her husband. + Gorgeous view of Fox Lake + Large, wrap-around bar area with prompt, friendly service + Good selection of taps, bottles, and alcohol - No ginger beer + Reasonable drink prices + Large menu + Pizzas are decent + Appetizers are consistently well made + Specials for every night of the week - Bands on most weekend nights; quite loud - Service gets a little spotty after bands start - Cash only (ATM onsite)

We go there for the pizza. Much better than most pub food. I've also had the fish fry and a burger at previous visits. All were good. It gets pretty busy here so we had a long wait for our fish fry. Then it took forever to get our check but it was not for the waitress sitting around. We saw her moving constantly. (Maybe i need to give this a one star review so ppl won't go there when i want to eat. LOL) I plan to go back again when I'm in Fox Lake area. Kind of fun to take a boat to their dock. Wait staff is pretty patient when i ask question about what i should order.

Everytime we are in Fox Lake we go here. We have a cottage down the trail so it's our go to place. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. The appetizers, clam chowder soup, bloody marys and pizzas are out of this world. Best clam chowder soup I've ever had(I think you can only get it on Fridays). The Hot Sailor pizza is amazing. We've tried pretty much every appetizer that is on the menu and have been VERY happy with them. The view is outstanding. Summertime here is the best because you can sit outside on their deck and have a great view of the lake. They usually have a DJ or a band on Saturday nights which is always fun! The staff is always friendly, the food is great, the atmoshpere is amazing...what more could you ask for?! -also, it is not cash only, in fact, we've never used cash there so I'm not sure what the other reviewer is talking about?

Love the atmosphere but the service and food is hit and miss. Been to the Boat House many times. Prices are fair when the food, drink, and service is on. Went with a group last week and the spaghetti was unpalatable. Several people sent it back or just didn't eat it. The steak sandwich I had was good, but my drink was horrible. What ever they mixed the Seagram's 7 with was definitely NOT 7Up. Have had pizza there before and it was great. No familiar faces with any of the staff at this last visit, thought they were under new management but was told they just have trouble keeping help. I hope they get their act together, I want to like this place!

We had a nice long weekend on the lake, and we had two visits to The Boat House. The view here is great, and we were able to watch the ice-races right from our bar stools. Everyone in the place was having a good time, and were very friendly. I agree with the previous yelper that Vicki, the owner, is great! She was very friendly, and it turned out we know a few of the same people. Drinks at this place are strong, and reasonably priced. We spend about 6 hours there, and we lost track of how many drinks, and our bar tab was still only $50. I similar scenario in Milwaukee would have resulted in a bar tab that was 3-times that. Most of the food we got was fried, and aside from being a bit overcooked, it was all very good. I will say that the walleye I had for Friday fish fry was not too good, but my wife's cod was delicious. I think they would do a lot better by hand breading fresh walleye, even if it means smaller portions. They have an extensive menu of appetizers, and we especially like the munchers, which are tots with cheese in them. We saw another couple with mozzarella sticks that looked really good. I want to go back to try a burger and pizza, because both looked very tasty. If only i could live in the lake, I would spend a lot more time there. All in all...3 stars for food, 5 stars for service

What can i say I met the owner of the bar at 6 in the morning Vicki what a awesome person full of fire. I was fishing in a fishery there fantastic bar great bloody s and the pizza was amazing. I also had a burger earlier in the day that was dam good also flame broiled I'm pretty sure. Met allot of great people everyone was friendly cant wait to go back next weekend if you ever go to fox lake you gotta go see her. She also hooked me up with a fully furnished one bedroom cabin with full kitchen for 75 bucks and it was about 15 feet from the water. Cheers

I visited this establishment via recommendation from an Uncle who raved to me about their Pork Chop and/or Fish Sandwich. I treated my Mom & Stepfather to Dinner here. About an hour drive and Well Worth It! I had the Saturday Special, Smothered Pork Chop. Very pleasing to the taste buds. But, to my absolute surprise, on their Appetizer Menu was Breaded Zucchini!! I love this!! Boat House P&E is only the 3rd place I have found that serves this. And it was quite a serving also. Add in the Ranch for dipping and what a delight to the senses. I got the Sweet Potatoe fries with the Pork Chop. The ambiance was enjoyable. Patrons were a bit boisterous, but given the setting, it was quite alright. Fantastic view of Fox Lake from the dining area and there is Dining outside. A very Friendly Staff that attends to the customers. Very Lovely Evening, even with the badly needed rain. :)

The burgers are good (and really big!) I haven't had very good luck with other menu items (had the fish fry and didn't care for it). I've never had the pizza but it looks good. But you can't beat the location!! Sitting by the lake on a summer evening watching the sun set with a good beer...doesn't get much better :) Four stars for the location alone!

We've tried to eat here 5 times and made it to the food twice. Once, we tried to sit at an empty table and were told several tables were reserved for a group. We were told we could stay and eat but we'd have to be gone in 40 minutes. No thanks we said. Next, we called for a reservation and were told that they don't take reservations (huh?), and also told it was busy. Yesterday was the third no-go, the worst of all. A long wait for a server's attention after seating ourselves. The server insulted when asked if we could order a drink when she dropped off menus (not her section apparently). Server returns with drinks and tells us to order food now because the food will take 45 minutes they just took an order for 25 people (this must have been one of those impossible-to-have reservations, since there was not a seated 25 person party present). When we decided to leave rather than wait, I went to the bar to pay for two beers we hadn't touched, pointed to the table with the beers sitting on it, and and explained to the bartender that the server told us the charge was $6.50. The server then comes up and tells the bartender that she, the bartender, should never believe what a customer tells her (about the price of drinks). That made me feel great about this place, NOT. The two times we did eat the food (this place is close to where we stay when in the area) it was fair to middling. The burgers are probably the best item. The service is OK when no other customers are present, otherwise I guess they are doing you a favor to just let you sit down. Never again for us.
